    E) Poor posture
Poor posture, unless the posture is fixed such as scoliosis or kyphosis, is more likely to be a cause of back pain than a red flag symptom. The other findings listed are red flags for serious etiology of back pain, along with: constant pain, pain > 4 weeks duration, radicular pain, abnormal neurologic exam, significant trauma mechanism, urinary retention / incontinence, saddle anesthesia, weakness, numbness, gait abnormality. Some consider high level athletics to be at an important risk factor / red flag as well.
