The classic abdominal pathologies associated with cystic fibrosis include meconium ileus, distal intestinal obstruction syndrome (DIOS) – which is due to a similar pathophysiology of inspissated bowel contents, and pancreatitis. However, patients with cystic fibrosis also have an increased incidence of GERD, Cholelithiasis, Nephrolithiasis, intussusception, constipation, and small intestine bacterial overgrowth.
