    Not all features making a febrile seizure complex (focality, prolonged > 15 minutes, two or more within 24 hours) carry the same risk of meningitis. A recent study (Guedj R et al Ann Emerg Med 2017; 70:52-62) looked at 839 patients with complex febrile seizure, of whom 260 had a lumbar puncture. 5 patients had bacterial meningitis, all of whom had prolonged seizures.
