A) Live insect
Irrigation may be used to remove a live insect, or to remove insect parts after killing the insect (typically with mineral oil or another oil such as microscope immersion oil or viscous lidocaine instilled in the canal. Irrigation should not be used with vegetable matter that may swell (bean), possible tympanic membrane perforation (tack), or batteries or magnets (water may react with them and accelerate chemical damage to the canal).
