You are seeing a 16yo girl who has been followed by her primary physician and a rheumatologist for systemic lupus erythematosus since being diagnosed 1 year ago. She is presenting with chest pain.

C) Spontaneous pneumothorax
Pericarditis, myocarditis, and endocarditis are all potential complications of lupus, particularly pericarditis. SLE patients may have Libman-Sacks endocarditis, a sterile form of endocarditis. Lupus pneumonitis and pleuritis are common pulmonary manifestations of SLE. Lupus patients are also at higher risk of pulmonary embolism due to antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. Lupus patients are not at particularl risk for spontaneous pneumothorax.
