A) Direct medical control
Direct medical control or online medical direction involves clinical direction provided to field personnel via radio contact with the base station or in-person on scene. Indirect medical control, or offline medical direction, refers to protocols and policies established by EMS agencies. Regionalized care refers to specialized systems such as trauma centers, pediatric critical care receiving hospitals, and stroke centers. Protocolized care involves field personnel following established protocols with minimal base contact. It is not outside a paramedic’s scope of practice to administer nebulized albuterol.
