D. A commonly used formula to calculate the extra fluid required for acute burn resuscitation is 4 cc/kg x child’s weight in kg x % BSA burned. Give half of this over first 8 hours, and half over next 16 hours in addition to maintenance fluids. 4 x 20 x 15 = 1200, half is 600 = 75 cc/hr over first 8 hours. Maintenance is 4cc/kg/hr for first 10kg + 2cc/kg/hr for next 10kg = 60 cc/hr. Therefore total fluids should be 75 + 60 = 135 cc/hr.
